Documenting the history of the oldest judo club in Colorado.

DBT Judo & The Denver School of Judo

The Denver Buddhist Temple Judo Dojo has been a cornerstone of judo in Colorado since its founding in 1953. Originally known as the Denver School of Judo, the club has trained generations of judoka at the historic Denver Buddhist Temple on Lawrence Street.

Our archives contain photographs, documents, and memorabilia tracing the club's journey through over seven decades — from the early days when Japanese-American families built the program, through decades of competition, community service, and cultural preservation.
